About Wagner Noble & Company

Formed in 1983, Wagner Noble & Company today numbers twenty-two total personnel, including eleven CPAs. The firm’s partners are Larry Wagner, Doug Noble, Susan Benton Wilson, Patty Frame, and Jeff Cline. Our practice is diverse and includes all of the traditional CPA firm services. Our CPAs are experienced in their practice areas, and that depth and breadth of experience allows us to consult extensively with our clients on a broad range of business, tax, and financial matters.

Our professionals are trained to be thorough in their compliance work and creative in the related planning and problem solving. As a firm, we are committed to providing a quality product that will be recognized as such, not only by client management, but also by outside investors, lenders and other third party users. Beyond that, we are committed to helping our clients develop meaningful solutions to their tax and accounting problems and needs.

The partner/manager group, with an average of more than twenty years of business and accounting experience, brings more relevant experience to a client situation than is the case with most other firms. We have employed and retained people with unique backgrounds that allow them to bring special skills and know-how to client situations. Our typical staff person (below the manager level) is older than the traditional new college graduate and has prior experience in either public accounting or industry, providing for greater maturity and stability than is often found elsewhere. Our personnel understand business well, learn new situations quickly, and are less likely to make job moves from year to year than others just entering the profession. The average tenure of our professional staff is approximately ten years.

And we know that we must add value on top of simply preparing tax returns or financial statements. We state in our firm’s mission statement that "We seek to satisfy our clients’ objectives and surpass their expectations." Because of the low turnover in our personnel, there is less need for you to educate new CPA firm staff as to the nature of your business. The consistency and knowledge of your particular situation that results from having the same personnel handling your work from year to year allows us to better anticipate your needs and advise you when changing laws can be of direct benefit.

Since our personnel have such a high level of experience, we are able to serve our clients with high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and responsiveness. We can bring creative and practical answers in response to your needs and questions.

Our attention to detail results in fewer notices of errors, omissions, or late filings from the Internal Revenue Service or other regulatory authorities.

The experience of many of our personnel outside of public accounting provides us with knowledge that can be obtained only by actually working in private industry. We understand your concerns since we have firsthand knowledge of the issues, constraints, and pressures that you face in your business.

How Are We Different From Other Firms?

Most locally controlled CPA firms take good care of their clients, and we do an exceptional job of exactly that. But we do much more. In an environment that may have seemed to be spinning out of control in recent years, we have succeeded in keeping the main thing as the main thing.

Headlines cite the big corporations that have taken advantage of their employees and investors. They cite greedy executives that have taken advantage of the companies that employ them, and they allege complicity on the part of their auditors. But even as allegations and bad news fill the financial press, we take pride in our work and our profession.

Our clients are Carolinas companies and Carolinas people who seek to earn an honest profit for themselves and provide a living for their employees. They are building wealth and working to meet their goals. They operate ethically and seek to do the right things. We have consistently focused on those clients. We make sure that we do the job right. And we do those things within the context of making an appropriate profit for our firm and enjoying what we do.
